The UN General Assembly declared 2015-2024 as The International Decade for People of African Descent. This was proclaimed in a Resolution adopted on 23 December 2013. The theme of the International Decade is “People of African descent: recognition, justice and development”. The Canadian Government has extended the declaration until 2028 and committed to funding program to support Black Communities, however funding can be pulled anytime and for any reason depending on political winds. We must recognize that the only goal of the UN’s declaration theme over which we have direct control, is our development. We must therefore organize en masse and develop solutions to minimize dependence on governments and bring wealth to Black Canadians. We are the ones that must craft our own future.

Why Stakeholders Should Participate
To realize our ambitions, all community stakeholders must intentionally participate in the conversations and compromisingly engage with each other. Movements build power with numbers and achieve objectives through organizing. Numbers is strength, numbers demonstrate commitment, numbers force recognition, numbers enforce consequences, numbers attract influential partnerships.
Each stakeholder brings needed ideas, strategies, experience, perspectives and expertise that guides conversations to build consensus. Our diversity now becomes our strength. We will be able achieve the following.
Identify Issues and solutions
Participate in solution implementation

Receive individual and organization financial rewards
